Why we run this way

What one parent could cover on a single income back then now takes two.

Mikus Transport was started by a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who grew up watching a single parent choose between a shift and everything else. Scouts and Cadets were affordable. New cleats weren't.

That math hasn't gotten easier. When you buy something big, the sticker price is only part of it — there's tax, there's the delivery fee, and there's the wage you lose sitting at home waiting for a truck that may or may not show.

So we built a courier company that gives people the option to keep the day's pay: fair pricing, flexible windows, and a real person on the phone who will work out your situation with you. Twenty years of volunteering with local cadet and scouting groups is part of the same habit.

Common questions

How fast can you deliver?

Same-day and expedited runs are available between Nanaimo and Victoria most days, including hot-shot service for urgent freight. Call before mid-morning for the best chance at a same-day slot.

Do you deliver in the evening or on weekends?

Yes. Evening and weekend delivery is a standard part of what we do, not a special favour, so you don't have to take time off work to receive something.

Will you bring it inside?

Yes. We do in-home placement for furniture and appliances — we bring it in and put it where you want it. Tell us about stairs, tight corners or a second-floor walk-up when you book so we send the right crew and equipment.

What does it cost?

Rates depend on the item, the pickup and drop locations, and how fast you need it. We quote piece rate or hourly, whichever works out better for you. Appliance disposal can be added on to your delivery for $28.50 per item.

Do you go to the Gulf Islands?

Yes — Gabriola, Salt Spring and the larger South Gulf Islands. Ferry sailings affect both timing and pricing, so give us a bit more notice on island runs and expect the ferry cost to show up in the quote.

Can you store product for my business?

Yes. We offer warehousing, cross-dock and fulfillment out of our Nanaimo facility, and we can deliver straight from storage on your schedule.
